Yunus Cem Yılmaz

Academic Technology Scholar

I am a PhD holder in Applied Economics from Northeastern University and I used to be an Academic Technology Scholar in Northeastern University.  I am originally from Turkey.

My research mostly focuses on industrial organization, (mainly on the welfare effects of regulation) labor economics (changes in educational attainment due to exogenous shocks and related labor market outcomes), and development (effects of Islamist politics in Muslim countries). I graduated in December 2021.

I have joined the Academic Technology Scholars in the summer of 2020 and I assisted the faculty of Northeastern University on their transition to online teaching and Canvas LMS. I hope my help could lead to a more engaging environment for students even when meeting physically is not possible and also improve the quality of teaching by the implementation of new technological tools when necessary. I have really enjoyed meeting with faculty to help achieve this goal.

In my free time I like learning about cars, watching movies, and playing and watching basketball and tennis. I really like driving and always go to yearly Auto Shows wherever I live (I attend the New England Auto Show for now). My favorite movie is Back to the Future and I really enjoy going to the movies (at least before the COVID-19 pandemic).
